If you’re looking to add some spice to your erotic sensibilities before summer, Shaun Hendel’s “Why I Didn’t Marry My Fiancée” may be the tale to get your juices flowing.

It’s a sexy, seductive story chronicling the abrupt dissolution of a racy courtship. The male and female parties, both unnamed, voraciously share in the tangible worldly pleasures of a long and heavy relationship—only to discover that the spark has gone.

The retrospective invites readers share in the steamiest, most lascivious moments of the now-defunct relationship. Narrated by the male partner, the story’s central concern is the uncontainable sexual hunger of both parties, nicknamed “the beast.”

The story is chock full of vivid, salacious sex scenes between the two partners: “Some months before, while I raked dry leaves in the back yard, she locked me out of our house. I climbed in through a window, and found her bright-eyed, panting and giggling on the kitchen floor. We fucked right there, hard on the kitchen floor.”

The two lovebirds are engaged sexually several times during the short work: their aggressive sexual escapade on a kitchen floor is saucy; enjoying the forbidden pleasures of anal intercourse on a balcony during a Las Vegas vacation is seductively lewd; and an adrenaline-inspired oral sex session after a home improvement accident is beyond risqué.

The tale is short on details with little background information, but its simplicity is what makes it work. The prose is clear, plot is uncomplicated, the characters are straightforward, and it’s less than 500 words long; but the word choice is superb, the sex scenes are expertly crafted, and the story’s final twist is swift and exceptionally successful.

Dedicated to dirty, sweaty sex, it’s as if the writers of Penthouse composed a romance novel—without the romance. With a little flushing out and more detailed characterization, it could become a treasure in the world of erotic literature.

It’s concise, deceptively profound, and utterly lascivious—and I absolutely love everything about it. It has quickly become a dirty little favorite of mine.

If you like a little kick with your curry, this tale is definitely worth a look.
