And not just here at One Real Story. Now is the time to send in your best. It seems there is a season for publishing and it’s in full bloom. Check out these hot markets and make sure to follow the guidelines.


Firefox News Now Accepting Fiction

Firefox News is looking for high-quality speculative fiction for publication on our website. We’re interested in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and cross-genre material such as romantic fantasy or comedy-horror. We are not looking for religious-themed works or any story whose summary is “prophesied hero saves the day.” The payment is $25 per accepted story, minimum length of 100 words, no maximum. Approximately one story will be selected per month for publication.

Nimrod International Journal Now Accepting Submissions

Nimrod is currently accepting submissions for two different issues, to be published in spring 2009 and spring 2010.

Escape Pod now accepting submissions

Attention science fiction writers. Escape Pod is now accepting submissions for their science fiction podcasts. They accept a wide range of science fiction, but please no horror or fantasy pieces. They have 2 sister sites for those and they can be found in the site’s guideline section.

Touchstone is Now Accepting Submissions

Touchstone Literary Magazine serves at KSUA gladly accepts email submissions in Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, and Fiction.

Now accepting submissions for Abaculus 2008

The annual collection will include authors from all levels of writing. Some professional, others unseasoned. It doesn’t matter. If your story is the best, then it’s in. Stories include science fiction, fantasy, and horror that capture the essence of each genre in their most heightened and original forms.

Now Accepting Submissions for CapGun 3!

As of this moment we are accepting your submissions of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, non-scholarly musings, and artwork for CapGun 3. The deadline is January 2, 2008, and the issue will appear in March of that year. Please see below for our detailed submissions guidelines. We hope you are well.

2008 Audio & Video Competition Now Accepting Submissions!

We’re pleased to announce that the second ever Missouri Review Audio & Video Competition is now open and accepting your submissions. You might notice something a little different from last year: the new video category. We’re very excited to see what you can do with this new option. We are also continuing the Narrative Essay, Documentary, and Voice-Only Literature (Fiction, Poetry, and Nonfiction) from last year.
