Use the following to write your own piece of flash fiction:
Out of his wallet he handed me a colour photograph.
The edges dog eared, the white border greying, the surface cracked.
A girl stood in front of a liquor store.
She was wearing a long, blood red skirt. Full and flounced around her slim shins.
I knew by the way she stood, one hip thrust towards the camera, that she had a
Southern accent.
I think her top was white. Her hair was dark.
“Who is she?”
He said. “She’s my wife”
“She’s pretty. Are you still together?”
“No she went to live in Hollywood. She said she wanted to be in films.
Acting was in her genes. She said her Daddy had been a famous film star.
She didn’t know his name but she believed it to be true.”
“Has she done any films?”
“I haven’t seen her in any.”
Be as abstract as you can while maintaining a storyline.
